SLAPS - Spilsby Local Amateur Pantomime Society
We put on one pantomime a year, usually in February after the excitement of Christmas has waned and there is nothing to look forward to until Easter. We do six performances in a one week season, usually to packed houses. As the name suggests we are all amateurs, from the author (we perform our own scripts) to the stage hands and virtually any other job you could imagine for the production of a musical pantomime.
SLAPS was re-formed in 2011 after a nine year hiatus when we had no place to perform. Now we are spoilt for choice and in the last two years we have performed 'Jack Bean and the Vegetable Plot' and 'King Arthur and the Four Bears' at the Spilsby Theatre. In 2014 were at the King Edward VI Academy in West End.
The scripts are specially written by Mike Morgan, the costumes made by local seamstresses, the sets designed and painted by local artists, and all the actors, singers and stage hands come from the local community.
Speaking of community, the pantomime has a magical effect on bringing people of the town and its surrounding area together.
All performances, five evenings and one Saturday matinee, are all very well attended; the Friday and Saturday performances could be sold out twice over.

SLAPS needs you.
SLAPS are always looking for new talent and new members to join the fun. No previous experience is necessary for actors but we would like someone with stage management skills and wardrobe skills particularly.
If you have a yearning to tread the boards, like to sing or are handy with a paintbrush or needle and thread, come and join us at a social 'Read-Through' planned for April.
Joining SLAPS as a member costs just £2 per year to cover insurance costs
For just £10 you could become a Friend of SLAPS.
